I Hate It Here (Earth)
In the early Trump administration, I thought there was a possibility that the neverending parade of horrors might be transitory. During the summer of 2020 I was sure of it. People reached a boiling point. We had masses in the streets, we were doing policy that hadn’t been done in decades. Hell, we gave people money without means testing. It seemed like a moment where things could break for the better. And I am so stunningly disappointed in my own naivete. Of course it wasn’t going to get better. Of course we would be subjected to inaction on every major crises facing the world and of course our leaders would get on TV offer us platitudes and then do nothing – often worse than nothing. So, now I have my small corner of the world that I guess I’ll try to make better in the ways I can but it feels so woefully insufficient.
